About Freedom Power
Founded in 2007, Freedom Power (formerly Freedom Solar Power) is one of the nation’s leading turnkey solar and HVAC installation companies, providing high-quality, cost-effective, reliable solutions for residential and commercial markets. With over 26,000 customers and more than 281 megawatts installed since its founding, Freedom Power is one of the largest solar companies in the US, and has been a SiteCapture customer since 2021.
The Challenge: Incomplete Proof and Time‑Consuming Photo Sourcing
As their business scaled rapidly, Freedom Power faced challenges capturing required photos in the field, sharing them via email, and organizing them via Google Drive:
- Missing or hard‑to‑find photos across Email and Google Drive required costly extra truck rolls and hours wasted daily.
- Difficulty meeting financial lender requirements led to frequent rejections of milestone reports and project delays.
- Frequent redesigns due to incomplete site assessments (limited photo documentation)
The Solution: Easy-to-use Mobile Form Templates for Field Teams & Automatic Organization for Office Teams
Freedom Power rolled out SiteCapture mobile form templates that spell out exactly which photos and fields are required by workflow, manufacturer, and downstream needs.
- Simple mobile form checklists that follow along with the installation process and provide descriptions/example photos to make documentation intuitive for field techs.
- Manufacturer‑specific warranty templates so crews capture the exact label and component photos required for any manufacturer.
- Centralized access so office teams can pull the right evidence quickly and keep documentation organized as project volume increases.
- New mobile form templates for HVAC installation, helping Freedom Power expand its operations into HVAC efficiently using a single field ops platform.
Results: Easy Documentation for Field Techs, Faster Reviews, and More Accurate Designs
Simple checklists completed via SiteCapture’s mobile app made it easy for field techs to collect required photos & data without distracting from getting the job done right.
- Less redesigns with thorough initial site assessments as opposed to working in email and Google Drive.
- Easy integration with an internal project management tool (Sunrise) for centralized and streamlined workflows. Eliminated the need to cross-train employees on disparate systems.
- Faster internal reviews with photos organized and searchable in one place.
Improved customer experience, as select photos are visible in Freedom’s customer‑facing app.
Favorite SiteCapture Feature
Descriptions and examples of required photos in the SiteCapture mobile app. This has made it easy for field teams to know exactly what they need to capture on site so they can focus on the installation and spend less time on documentation.
What’s Next for Freedom Power?
Freedom Power continues to expand its HVAC installation operations, as well as focusing more on solar storage & battery installations. Victoria and their Operations team continue to explore new ways to leverage SiteCapture to integrate with other systems and save time and money across their organization as they grow.
Advice to Other Solar Teams
“Implement a photo documentation and management process early in your business’s lifecycle. As you grow, you’ll get to a point where there may be 250-500 photos per installation. If they aren’t organized with standard requirements early, the volume will become overwhelming and you’ll run into trouble.”
